265/40-R22 tires are 1.04 inches (26.5 mm) larger in diameter than 265/35-R22 tires and the speedometer difference is 3.4%.

Meaning the distance from the axle centre line to the bottom of the tire would be just under 0.5" = 0.5" drop of the frame towards the ground. However, your 'fender' gap would also grow by 0.5".
At a tire load of 52.5 kg, the 40-622 Marathon outperforms the 37-622 at 50 psi Vs 40 psi at a tire load of 42.5 kg. Of course, the conclusion isn't that easy. When you also take into account the fact that a higher tire load needs a higher air pressure, the 37-622 Marathon still outperforms the 40-622 and 47-622.
245/45-17 has plenty of sidewall by modern standards. Avoid the potholes you can avoid. Lower the pressures, no more than 33psi all around when tires are cold but at room temperature. So if the car is parked outside, at 30F, you should have them at 31psi all around first thing in the morning. 01-13-2012 10:58 AM #9.
Both in the table and in the graph, the tires are compared according to the following indicators: overall diameter, section width, circumference, sidewall height and clearance. Also, the online application calculates the difference in real speed and speedometer readings if the difference between tire 245/40 R19 and tire 255/40 R19 is significant.
Sidewall height refers to the distance between a rim’s edge and the top of a tire. A larger height ensures a smoother ride, while a smaller one offers more grip in muddy and snowy situations. The sidewall height of a 275/70r18 tire is 192.5 millimeters, while that of 315/70r18 is 220.5 millimeters. So 315/70r18 tires feature a larger sidewall
The 2022 Audi A4 40 TFSI employs a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine good for 201 horsepower and a 0 to 60 mph time of 6.3 seconds. The A4 45 TFSI uses the same engine but with 261 horsepower and a 0 to 60 run of 5.2 seconds. Both cars come standard with quattro all-wheel drive and a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.
In the tire comparison table above, you can see a detailed calculation of the size difference between 305/45 R22 and 305/40 R22 tire. The calculation results are presented in the form of visual infographics, on which tire with size 305/45 R22 is on top, and tire with size 305/40 R22 below. Both in the table and in the graph, the tires are
Comfort. In comparison to a 23C tire, a 25C tire provides better comfort. Because it is the broader tire of the two, the 25C tire provides a larger air chamber between you and the road, allowing you to lower the pressure without risking a pinch flat. The lower the pressure, the more cushioning you get from the road, boosting your comfort.
Time for some new tires and am curious to see what the difference is between 40 series and 45 series tires. Both appearance and ride. I have 18" (of course) Hufs with stock suspension. Currently running 225/40/18 and am looking at any of the following 4 sizes; 225/40/18 OR 235/40/18 OR 225/45/18 OR 235/45/18.
The only reason I would go with the higher speed rating tire is if you drive aggressively/track the car, or plan on heavily modifying it for more power, better suspension. Whiteline tranny insert, JLT intake, SOLO performance turbo back, Tune+ tune w/WG, Mishimoto IC, BMR CB05, Steeda Diff bushings.
Bigger brakes are almost always a great enhancement to any rig. The bottom line is that 37, 38, or 40 inch tires are worth an investment in your rig to run them. They will take you places that people with smaller tires may never get to. Your rig will be much more capable when the terrain gets challenging.
The sidewall height of the 285 tires would be 285 x 0.70 = 199.5 millimeters, and the 275 tires would have a sidewall height of 275 x 0.70 = 192.5 millimeters. The difference between the two is 7 millimeters (199.5 – 192.5). However, since there are two sidewalls (one on top and one on bottom), the total height difference between the two
235 tires offer less rolling resistance as compared to the 255 Tires. As a result, the 235 offer better gas mileage. Cars using the 235 tires can only carry a lighter load, while the 255 Tires can carry a much higher load. The 235 have a narrower width and are therefore less stable than the 255 tires with a wider width.
